Implant-Supported Dentures
Dental implants and traditional dentures in San Antonio are two popular ways to replace missing teeth. We also have an option that combines both of these treatments. Implant-supported dentures create more stability in your traditional dentures, and we proudly offer this service at our practice.
What Are Implant-Supported Dentures?
Implant-supported dentures are traditional dentures that are held in place by dental implants. These give people the option to have the prosthetics in place but keep them more stable. The process of placing implant-supported dentures is the same as with regular dental implants. The only difference is that your dentist will mount the dentures on top instead of a crown.
Types of Implant Dentures
At our offices, we offer two types of implant-supported dentures. Overdentures are supported by implants to remain stable and in place but can also snap off when you need them to. For this reason, most people refer to them as snap-in dentures.
Hybrid dentures are firmly attached to implants in the jaw. Patients cannot easily remove these without an implant specialist’s help.
What Are the Benefits?
Patients with missing teeth can experience the many benefits of implant-supported dentures. If you’re interested in getting this treatment option, some of the advantages you may notice include:
- More stable than traditional dentures
- Improved chewing ability
- Jawbone preservation
